The Modernist Coinwash is a project run by Marion Piper and Lindall Pearce. “Conceived as a series of two-part sessions, the aim is to open up the possibility for personal practice development and peer connection and discussion.”

We each received five envelopes in the post, each with an object or stimuli of some kind. We were to use these objects to make new work and bring together our ideas in a small show and to discuss how we approached the objects.
I decided to use a test block I’d made, and had in my studio, to physically interact with each of the stimuli I received, photographing five different interactions for each object.
Marion and Lindall both used the objects in a very different way, referring to their colours, shapes and surfaces to make objects that bridged painting and sculpture.
